Mission
The Computational Marine Ethology Research Institute (COMERI) mission is to vigorously pursue an increased fundamental understanding, and lead transformative scientific advances in the field of computational marine ethology using state-of-the-art computational capabilities. The institute will drive a new appreciation and foundational understanding of complex oceanic phenomena that are routinely noted in nature, however, only recently are capable of being understood by humankind through the use of advanced computational techniques realized in the twenty-first century. The extensive usage of computational techniques to link marine behavior to foundational physics principles represents the underlying tenant of the Institute. COMERI recognizes and encourages cross-cutting collaboration and collaborative partnerships across a wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines with an emphasis on openness and sharing of ideas and for all those with a shared set of passions. Research staff and all participants of the Institute value honor, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge in support of the unique and exceptional marine creatures that we are so honored and privileged to study.
